Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru marked his hundredth appearance for Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht in style during their commanding 2-0 win against Cercle Brugge on Thursday night.
The 26-year-old, who joined the game late by replacing Mario Stroeykens, contributed to the Purple and White's successful conclusion of the First Division A league's first round.
Anders Dreyer initiated the scoring for Anderlecht within the opening ten minutes, and Luis Vazquez sealed the victory early in the second half. Anderlecht now heads into the break, trailing league leaders Union Saint-Gilloise by six points.
Ashimeru, a pivotal figure since joining Anderlecht on a permanent deal in 2021, has made nine appearances across all competitions for the club this season.
His remarkable contribution has earned him a spot in Ghana's provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The hardworking midfielder is scheduled to return to Ghana this weekend as preparations commence on Sunday, December 31.
