Ghanaian international midfielder Simon Zibo has completed a transfer to Maltese top-flight side Sliema Wanderers, signing a two-year deal with the record champions.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder joins Sliema Wanderers from rival club Birkirkara FC, following the expiration of his contract. Zibo is expected to play a crucial role for his new team in the upcoming football season.

The former Ghana U23 player will link up with his new teammates next week as pre-season training begins ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Zibo becomes the third Ghanaian player to join Sliema Wanderers, following in the footsteps of James Arthur and Geoffrey Acheampong.

In his previous stint with Birkirkara FC, Zibo made 22 appearances, scoring just one goal. He had previously played for Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães and Ghanaian side Liberty Professionals before moving to Europe.
