Ghanaian winger Kwame Poku has been named League One Player of the Month for September following an outstanding spell with Peterborough United.
Poku, who has been in fine form, netted three goals in crucial games against Lincoln City, Bristol City, and Leyton Orient, earning him the prestigious award. This marks the first time the former Ghana U23 player has claimed the accolade, and he is determined to maintain his scoring momentum in the upcoming fixtures.
"This is my first Player of the Month in the EFL, so I am delighted to win. It was a good month for me in terms of the goals that I scored, and hopefully, I can keep that going," Poku shared in his reaction to the award.
He also spoke about his approach to goal-scoring, emphasizing his growth and focus in front of the net. "I am just trying to stay more relaxed in front of goal if I can. That comes from experience. I like creating goals as well as scoring them, but it just so happens in the early months of the season, it is the goals that are coming."
Poku has already tallied six goals in ten League One matches this season, making him a key player for Peterborough United as they push forward in the campaign.
