The talented full-back has officially joined the Wörthersee Stadion outfit until the summer of 2025.
Austrian Bundesliga club SK Austria Klagenfurt have announced the signing of Solomon Owusu Bonnah from RB Leipzig in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Dutch-born of Ghanaian descent has left RB Leipzig after failing to break into the club's senior team after two seasons.
The 19-year-old signed a three year deal with the Violet lads after passing a mandatory medical examination earlier today.
The club's official statement reads “A few hours before the summer transfer window closed, Austria Klagenfurt struck the transfer market again and filled the last permanent position in the professional squad for the 2022/23 autumn season: Solomon Bonnah (19) switched from the German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig to the Violets. In Waidmannsdorf, the Dutch junior team player will receive a contract until June 30, 2025”
Owusu Bonnah was born to Ghanaian parents in Holland which makes him eligible to represent Ghana at any level in future.
Bonnah started in the youth of his hometown club AVV Zeeburgia, then at the age of nine he was accepted into the academy of Ajax Amsterdam and trained there before joining RB Leipzig in 2019. With the Saxons, he recommended himself with strong performances in the youth and was equipped with a professional contract.
After 45 games (two goals, six assists) in the junior Bundesliga and the UEFA Youth League, the 1.65 meter man was promoted to the squad by then head coach Jesse March (now Leeds United). Bonnah celebrated his premiere at the end of November 2021 in the Champions League in a duel with FC Brugge (5-0), a little later he also made his debut in the Bundesliga against Bayer Leverkusen (1-3). The Dutchman was also part of the professional squad under March's successor, Domenico Tedesco, and played against Hansa Rostock (2-0) in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup, which Leipzig later won.
"I am very happy that the move to Austria Klagenfurt worked out. Discussions with those responsible were very open and trusting. The club has big ambitions and I will always give everything to achieve the goals with the team. I can't wait to get out there with the other guys and prove myself," Bonnah said
