Spain and Barcelona's teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal, has earned high praise from Ghanaian international Mohammed Salisu following the youngster's impressive performances for both club and country.
Salisu, who plays as a defender for AS Monaco, had his first encounter with the highly-rated winger during the Joan Gamper Trophy match on Monday. Monaco secured a 3-0 victory over Barcelona at the Stade Louis II, with Salisu playing a crucial role in keeping Yamal at bay.
Yamal, who came on as a second-half substitute, was unable to prevent his team from going down as Salisu effectively neutralized the young talent in what was a thrilling encounter.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo after the match, the former Real Valladolid defender commended Yamal's talent, saying, "He had a great season and then did very well at the Euros. I think he is a special player."
Salisu further expressed his belief that the 17-year-old forward has a bright future ahead of him due to his exceptional skills and maturity on the field.
"Yes, I think everyone was surprised because he is a young player. He is 16-17 years old, and at that age, when you play this kind of football, it is a bit of a surprise for everyone. I think he has a great future and he is a great player," he added.
The encounter between the two players highlighted Yamal's rising star status, while Salisu's performance underscored his defensive prowess against top-tier talent.
