Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on Antoine Semenyo following another outstanding performance in the Premier League.
The Ghana international was instrumental in City’s commanding 3-0 victory over Fulham, scoring once and providing an assist as the reigning champions maintained pressure on Arsenal in the title race.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium in January, Semenyo has made an immediate impact. His latest strike marked his fifth goal in just eight league appearances, underlining his seamless adaptation to Guardiola’s system.
Speaking after the match, Guardiola commended the 26-year-old’s sharp instincts and dynamic qualities.
“[Semenyo] has a sense of the second balls in the box but not just that—the pace and intensity—he is a top, top player,” Guardiola said.
“The club made a good mark [signing Semenyo] and Antoine is an incredible signing.”
Semenyo, on his part, attributed his flying start to the support within the squad and the positive atmosphere at the club.
“There’s no secrets! It’s just being part of a great team, a great environment. The coach has been great and they’ve made it easy for me to settle. It’s all a fairytale right now,” he said.
The forward also stressed the importance of consistency as City continue their pursuit of league glory.
“It was very important [to win]. That was the message after the game against Liverpool—backing up what we did on the weekend. It was a tough graft and we got the three points; today we did the same thing. I’m happy.”
Semenyo further praised teammate O’Reilly for his contribution on the night.
“He has got that in the locker. He’s a very technical player. When I slid him in, I knew he was going to score.”
With Semenyo in red-hot form, Manchester City appear well-equipped as the Premier League title race heads into a decisive stretch.
