Manchester City's dynamic forward, Jeremy Doku, delved into his Ghanaian heritage, shedding light on his roots despite his allegiance to Belgium on the international stage.

Hailing from Antwerp to Ghanaian parents, the 21-year-old embarked on his international journey with Belgium's youth teams, ascending through the ranks from U-15 to U-21 levels.

While the Ghana Football Association (GFA) expressed keen interest, Doku opted to represent Belgium's senior team, making his debut in a UEFA Nations League clash against Denmark in September 2020.

His journey continued as he graced the stage at Euro 2020, accumulating 20 caps and netting two goals for the European powerhouse.

Acknowledging his Ghanaian lineage, Doku affirmed his identity, citing his fluency in Twi, a language native to Ghana. "Of course, I'm Ghanaian because my parents are Ghanaians. I also speak Twi, which is a language in Ghana. I've been there once, and I'll have to go back there again because it was a long time ago," Doku shared on the In The Premier League Chair show.

Last summer, Doku made the move to Manchester City from Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennes, enjoying a stellar season under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.

His versatility on the pitch has been evident, contributing five goals and eight assists for the club thus far, solidifying his place as a rising star in the footballing world.
