The Dutch manager believes the Ghana winger will become a complete player to feature for any top-tier club in Europe should he stay at Ajax until the end of the 2023/24 season's campaign.
Ajax head coach Maurice Steijn says he will be happy Kudus Mohammed continue his career at the club for another season after attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a top transfer target for three English Premier League clubs namely Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion following an explosive performance last season.
According to English tabloid Athletic, Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Kudus Mohammed and his representative for a possible summer switch.
However, Maurice Steijn in an interview after Ajax 3-0 loss to RSC Anderlecht in pre-season friendly confirmed that several clubs are courting for the former FC Nordsjaelland attacker and feels he needs time to develop.
"I feel that when Kudus decides to stay for one more year, the real top clubs will then come for him,” Maurice Steijn said.
If we win the league and he scores 20 goals, clubs will pay double for him. This is what we are trying to tell him now."
"I hope that the Mohammed Kudus transfer will not happen and that he will stay at Ajax for one more year. I am not noticing at all that he's busy with a transfer. Today we could see again that he has exceptional qualities. I hope that he will stay."
Kudus, has already returned to Amsterdam last week to begin preseason and exhibited a five star display against Shakhtar Donetsk in a preseason friendly where he netted a brace and provided an assist.
