Clinton Dombila provided a late assist for FC Ararat in their 3-2 away win over FC Urartu, but it was not enough to prevent elimination from the Armenia Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Despite the away victory, Ararat bowed out of the competition after a heavy 3-0 first-leg defeat at home.

Dombila made his mark in the 89th minute, setting up Moussa Kante to level the game at 2-2 after a spirited fightback from the visitors.

Earlier in the match, Senegalese international Guy Lima had opened the scoring for Ararat, but the hosts responded strongly, with Alexandre Llovet and Nicholas Kaloukian turning the game around to lead 2-1.

Kante’s equaliser gave Ararat hope before Malian international Soulaymane Toure grabbed the decisive third goal to secure the win on the night.

For Dombila, the performance marks a positive step as he continues his return from injury, gradually regaining form and rhythm. He will now be hoping to earn a starting spot when FC Ararat face FC Van at the Republic Stadium on Saturday, April 4.
