The in-form Ghanaian attacker has sustained a fresh injury at KRC Genk in the Belgian Jupilier League.

Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil picked up a shoulder injury in KRC Genk home loss to Royal Antwerp on Sunday.

Paintsil, who is expected to undergo a scan today, was replaced in the 81st minute by Angelo Preciado after he went down in pain due to the injury.

The injury could be a big blow for the winger's return to the national team under newly-appointed Ghana coach Chris Hughton as the Black Stars face Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.

Having already missed the World Cup, the 25-year-old winger's form has seen him make a case for a return to the national team.

Paintsil has scored ten goals and provided ten assists in the Belgium First Division A league this season.
