Mantova kept the pressure on Padova and Triestina in the Italian Serie B qualification race with a 4-1 win over Renate in matchday 16 fixture at the Stadio Danilo Martelli. 

 

 

Renate drew first blood in the game after two minutes but the White and Reds responded in the twenty-third minute with a Fabrizio Brignani header.

 


Mantova upped their game as they controlled the first-half and doubled their lead - thirty-six minutes just after the break to make it 2-1, and Italo-Ghanaian forward Mensah added a third with a close-range finish in the 70th minute.

 


The 32-year-old who was born to Ghanaian parents in Verona was deployed on the left wing by head coach Davide Possanzini, were he kick-up-a-fuss to the opposing team defense as they sweat profusely at the back especially in the second-half.



Midfielder Antonio Fiori stunningly fired home the fourth goal to seal the victory for Mantova in the 88th minute.



Mensah has now scored two goals as Mantova sit top of the summit with 38 points. However the White and Reds are being trailed closely by second placed Padova who have 34 points.
