English Championship outfit Swansea City have announced the signing of Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku on a long-term contract from Zulte Waregem in the ongoing transfer window.
The 20-year-old has penned on a four-year deal which includes the option of an additional 12 months after passing a mandatory medical examination earlier today.
A youth product of Ghanaian club Great Corinthians FC, Opuku made the switch to Belgium in 2024 to join Pro League side, Jong Essevee.
The same year, the youngster moved to Zulte Waregem, helping them win the Challenger Pro League and earned promotion to the Pro League.
"He is a young player, who has been exposed to a lot of senior football in Belgium," said Swans head coach Vitor Matos.
"He will be able to adapt to the physicality, the intensity and the amount of games in the Championship as we know he is a fast and sharp player.
"Opoku has joined us here in Austria (on their pre-season tour), and he has had his first training session and we're excited to have him here."
After a successful breakthrough 2025/26 campaign for the Belgian side – where he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 34 league appearances - he made his first senior appearance for Ghana in May 2026.
Opoku, who is right-footed winger, will look to add depth and pace to Swansea City’s attack as he did so whilst helping Waregem to promotion.
