Former English Premier League campaigners Leicester City have farmed out English-born forward of Ghanaian parentage Kirsten Otchere on a season-long loan to English League Two side Cheltenham Town ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The move comes despite the 19-year-old enjoying an outstanding pre-season with the Foxes, where he emerged as one of the club’s standout performers.
Otchere scored three goals and provided two assists in just four pre-season matches, finding the net against Bristol Rovers, Burton Albion and Spanish side Cádiz while also registering two assists against Northampton Town.
His impressive performances had strengthened his case for greater first-team involvement, but Leicester have opted to send the talented attacker out on loan to gain regular senior football.
The temporary switch does not include a transfer fee or an option to make the move permanent, with Leicester expected to closely monitor his progress throughout the season.
Cheltenham will now hope the highly-rated youngster can carry his excellent pre-season form into League Two as he begins the first loan spell of his professional career.
Otchere developed through Leicester City's academy system and arrives at the EV Charger Points Stadium eager to gain valuable first-team experience. He scored nine times and provided three assists in 16 Premier League 2 appearances for the Foxes last season as well as adding an additional three goals and two assists in cup competitions.
