Nico Williams playfully told his Spanish national teammate, Lamine Yamal, that he should be learning from him as the two have shone during the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
The duo has captured attention with their standout performances, particularly in Spain’s 1-0 victory over defending champions Italy in their final Group B match. In that game, a Riccardo Calafiori own goal secured the win for Spain.
After the match, Williams humorously remarked, “I’ve already told him [Yamal] that he has to learn from ‘his father,’ me!”
Williams also shared that he had taken the opportunity to remind Yamal of the importance of savoring these remarkable moments. He said, “I spoke to him and emphasized how special it is to enjoy these extraordinary times.”
The pair continued their impressive form in the Round of 16, where Spain cruised to a 4-1 victory over Georgia. Williams scored a stunning goal in the match as Spain advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Looking ahead, Yamal and Williams will be eager to make an impact when they face Germany on Friday.
