Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has commented on Thomas Partey's injury situation ahead of weekend's game against Aston Villa.
The Gunners will continue their 2022/23 season's title winning race with a trip to face Aston Villa after losing the first spot on the log to Manchester City after a 3-1 home loss to the Cityzens on Wednesday.
Partey didn't feature in the mid-week fixture against Manchester City after sustaining a muscle injury few hours to kick-off and Arteta has provided an update on his injury situation.
Arsenal has played a game fewer than Man City and could regain top spot with a win but Partey’s availability is crucial to the team’s title ambitions and his presence is sure to boost the team’s chances of beating Aston Villa.
“Thomas [Partey] had some discomfort in a little muscle. We have to assess him this morning and see how he is” Arteta said ahead of Aston Villa trip.
Partey has been a key performer in Arsenal’s pursuit of a first English Premier League title since 2004 with the Black Stars midfielder scoring two goals in 18 league appearances this season.
