Ghana international defensive midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is pushing for a move to LaLiga side Elche CF in the ongoing winter transfer window, according to reports from the Spanish media.
The 32-year-old tough-tackling midfielder, who is currently on loan at Belgian Jupiler Pro League side KAS Eupen, could soon reunite with his former employers in the Spanish top-flight given his eagerness to part ways with his Chinese club this season.
According to a report filed by Newspaper AS, both parties are holding talk of negotiations over a deal, with the Ghana combative midfielder currently at FIFA to get his wish of contract termination request granted with Shenzhen FC in the coming days.
In his eagerness to reunite with Elche CF, the former Villarreal man is said to have slushed his wages in order to realise his dream move back to the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valer.
His signing could serve as a morale booster for manager Pablo Machín in his bid to reinforce his midfield options with his acquisition following his vast experience in the summit of Spanish football competition.
Wakaso has had spells with Villarreal, Espanyol, Las Palmas, Granada and Alavés in the Spanish LaLiga elite division contest.
He has so far made 7 league appearances for KAS Eupen in the ongoing Jupiler Pro League 22/23 football season.
