An uncle of Cremonese Ghanaian striker Felix Afena-Gyan has lashed out at the technical handlers of the Black Stars for omitting his nephew from the final World Cup squad in Qatar and in recent AFCON qualifying matches.
According to Abrefa Gyan, despite having meager playing time at Cremonese Afena-Gyan was on a path in becoming a crucial No.9 for Black Stars system, as his consistency and his constant presence in the front row of attack was incontestable.
"He wasn't playing much at Cremonese, but it was the little he displayed when given the opportunity that compelled authorities to bring him into the Black Stars," Abrefa Gyan told Kumasi-based Pure FM.
"There are many players who play regularly and perform well for their clubs but underperform for the national team. Unlike the boy, even with little playing time at his club, he always delivers when called upon."
