The 26-year-old lateral defender of Ghanaian heritage has completed his move to the English third division side until the next three football seasons
English-born Ghanaian right-back Sean James Kweku Clare has joined English League One side Wigan Athletic FC on a three-year deal in this ongoing transfer window.
The former Heart of Midlothian FC defender is joining the DW Stadium campaigners on a free transfer after ending his two-year spell with Charlton Athletic in the English Sky Bet League One contest last term.
An excerpt of publication from the official website of the 'Lactics' confirming the capturing of the 26-year-old full-back read: "Wigan Athletic is pleased to confirm the signing of versatile defender Sean Clare on a three-year deal. Clare joins after a two-year spell with Charlton Athletic in Sky Bet League One, where he played over 75 league games."
The signing of the former Oxford United lateral stopper will now serve as an excellent reinforcement for the defensive set-up of manager Shaun Maloney in his bid to secure a quick qualification back to the EFL Championship next term after suffering demotion in the 2022/23 season.
The London-born defender remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana on the international stage
