The 29-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent has sealed a short-term deal with the German heavyweights and will be spending time with the U23 side until the end of the season
German-born Ghanaian defender Leroy Kwadwo has joined Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund on a six-month contract, the club have confirmed.
The former TSV 1860 Munich centre-back is joining the Signal Iduna Park outfit on a free transfer in this January transfer window. However, the Ghana-prospect defender will be actively involved in the fourth division contest with the Borussia Dortmund ll side for current 2025/26 football season.
An official confirmation over the signing of the former Dynamo Dresden man reads: ''Central defender Leroy Kwadwo joins Borussia Dortmund's U23 team. The 29-year-old was previously without a club and has signed a contract until June 30, 2026. Leroy Kwadwo began his professional career at Rot-Weiss Essen, and the Herten native was most recently under contract with TSV 1860 Munich. During his career, the defender made 130 appearances in the 3. Liga and 40 in the Regionalliga. He also played four times in the 2. Bundesliga for Würzburger Kickers.''
Sporting director of the U23 side Ingo Preuß has said to his club's official website: ''Leroy has agreed at short notice to fill the gap in our central defense. With his experience, especially from the 3rd division, he will not only bring stability, but also support and further develop our young players,” explains Ingo Preuß, Sporting Director of the U23 team.''
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Herten-born defender still remains eligible to play for Ghana at the international level.
