The former Right to Dream academy graduate has completed his move to the Swedish third-tier outfit ahead of the start of the new football campaign

Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah has joined Swedish Division 1 side Ljungskile SK in an undisclosed period of contract, the club have confirmed.

The 24-year-old centre-back is joining the Skarsjövallen Stadium campaigners on a free transfer after parting ways with Superettan side Varbergs BoIS ahead of the 2025-26 season.

An excerpt of official confirmation over his signing read: ''LSK strengthens the men's squad with 24-year-old center back Gideon Mensah, who most recently came from Varbergs BoIS. Gideon is a physical and skilled defender with experience from both Superettan and Allsvenskan.''

Manager Joakim Jensen was left eulogizing the former Ghana U-20 star over his qualities and talent right after capturing his signature, telling his club's official website: ''In Gideon Mensah we get an exciting and talented center back with Allsvenskan qualifications and also international matches for Ghana U17/U20. A confident and solid center back with good experience. Gideon is eager to really play and contribute to the great investment Ljungskile is making and Gideon has heard a lot of good things about the club from former coach Erik Lund. We are very happy to have solved this at the last minute.''

Before sealing his move to his new side, Mensah figured in 72 games across all competitions for Varbergs BoIS during his four seasons stay in the Swedish football competitions.

The former Right to Dream academy product is yet to be capped by Ghana at the men's senior national team, the Black Stars having played for the U-17 and U-20 national youth teams.
