The newly-promoted Swedish second-tier side have announced the signing of the talented teenage sensation in an undisclosed period of contract this summer
Ghanaian teen Yiriyon Gideon has joined Swedish Superettan club Umeå FC, with his work permit being granted today since teaming up with his team-mates on July 13, 2025, the club have confirmed.
The 18-year-old caught the attention of the Umeå Energi Arena outfit following his magnificent display during his training session over the past weeks.
Having proved his mettle, the Swedish side have handed him a contract by stating on their club's official website: ''Today, Friday, the decision came from the Migration Board that Yiriyon Gideon will be granted a work permit, which means he is ready to play for the important match against Trelleborg on Sunday. Gideon has been in place in Umeå since July 13 and has been training with the team while waiting for his work permit.''
Swedish international Adam Chennoufi added: ''This is very good news to receive! Gideon has proven his skills in the training match against Sandviken and during the weeks he has been training with us. He is an energetic, hard-working and skillful central midfielder.''
Gideon remains a prospect for the Ghana Senior National Team on the international stage given his promising talent as a budding star.
