The 20-year-old wideman of Ghanaian descent has completed his transfer move to the German third-tier outfit in this current transfer window

German-born Ghanaian winger Kelsey Meisel has joined German 3.Liga side Rot-Weiss Essen from Schalke 04, the club have confirmed.

The versatile youngster is linking up with the Stadion an der Hafenstraße campaigners in a yet to be disclosed period of contract.

"Rot-Weiss Essen has secured the services of winger Kelsey Meisel. The 20-year-old winger, who can be used in a variety of offensive positions, most recently played for FC Schalke 04's U23 team, where he scored eight goals last season," an official confirmation over his signing read.

The Ghana-prospect had this to say right after appending his signature to the deal: "I'm really looking forward to this challenge at such a traditional club like RWE and to the 3rd league. Since I already live in Essen, I know how important this club is for the city and the people here. The discussions with the coach have really made me excited about this task and I can hardly wait to get started here."

Sporting director Marcus Steegmann added: "Kelsey Meisel is a young and very talented winger who has undergone a very exciting development in recent months and has already become a regular player in the regional league at the age of 19. In the final phase of last season and in the first games of the season that has just started, he demonstrated his goal-scoring ability. We have no doubt that he will make the jump to the 3rd division and are very happy that he has chosen us and Hafenstrasse."

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Germany U18 national youth team.
