OGC Nice Chief Executive Officer Fabrice Boquet has backed Ghana international Abdul Salis Samed to rediscover his best form following his move to the French Ligue 1 club.

Samed joined Nice on a three-year contract ahead of the 2025/26 season, reuniting with his former RC Lens coach Franck Haise. The 25-year-old midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements at Lens after a challenging campaign and spent last season on loan at Sunderland, where he played a key role in helping the Black Cats secure promotion back to the English Premier League.

Boquet believes that the strong relationship between Samed and Haise will be crucial in helping the Ghanaian settle quickly and perform at his peak.

“He meets the coach’s expectations. Salis and Franck know each other very well, which will make it easier for him to integrate, because each knows how the other works and what the other expects,” Boquet said.

“He is an international who has also played in the Champions League. After a more difficult last season, we think he’ll be able to bounce back under Franck Haise.”

Samed’s first test in Nice colours will come on August 16, when Le Gym host Toulouse at the Allianz Riviera in their Ligue 1 season opener.
