Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil scored his first goal of the 2025 MLS season to help LA Galaxy secure a 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Sunday afternoon at Dignity Health Sports Park.
The win ended the Galaxy's 16-match winless streak, the longest to start a season in MLS history.
Lucas Sanabria opened the scoring in the 17th minute, netting his first MLS goal. Paintsil doubled the lead in the 55th minute, receiving a through ball from Gabriel Pec, cutting inside, and firing a right-footed shot into the top right corner.
Paintsil started the round 17 clash and played 71 minutes, contributing significantly to the Galaxy's first league win of the season.
After the match, the Ghanaian stalwart expressed his excitement and promised fans more victories in the future, following Sunday's match winning goal which was his first.
Despite the victory LA Galaxy sits bottom (15) of the Western Conference table, with 7 points, while Real Salt Lake are 13th on 15 points.
The Galaxy will look to build on this momentum when they face St. Louis CITY SC on June 14.
