Dennis Appiah is set to join French Ligue 2 side Saint-Étienne from Nantes on a long term contract, Kickgh.com can reveal.
The Stéphanois boss, Laurent Batlles is interested in bringing the Nantes defensive midfielder to Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, seeing the versatile player as a possible long-term hotshot.
Head coach of Nantes Antoine Kombouaré confirmed Appiah will be leaving the fold of the Yellow Canaries in January before the 0-0 draw stalemate against Troyes on Wednesday.
"They (Appiah and Fabio) wanted to leave, so I opened the door," said Kombouare.
Appiah, 30, was part of the Nantes team that won the Coupe de France (French Cup) last season - joined the western France side in 2019 and has gone ahead to feature in 96 games.
He was born in Toulouse, France to Ghanaian parents and has represented the Western European country at all youth levels.
In previous times, the Ghana FA attempted to convince him to switch his international allegiance to play for the West African nation.
Hopefully the incoming Ghana gaffer will seemingly turn his attention to persuading those of Ghanaian heritage, with the likes of Dennis Appiah to join forces with the Black Stars.
