Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng Gyabaa has completed a move to La Liga 2 outfit Albacete Balompié during the ongoing winter transfer window. The forward has signed a contract that runs until June 2027, covering the remainder of the current season plus one additional year.
Obeng brings a wealth of experience to the Albacete attack, having made over 170 appearances in Spain’s second division. The 26-year-old is known for his physical presence, work rate, and goal-scoring ability, qualities that the club hopes will bolster their attacking options for the remainder of the season.
“Samuel adds experience, strength, and versatility to our frontline. He knows Spanish football well and will be an important player for us,” Albacete coach Alberto González said.
Obeng’s journey in Spain began at Getafe CF during his youth career, after which he progressed through several senior sides in Catalonia. His breakthrough came in 2018 with CD Calahorra in the Spanish third tier, where he scored seven goals in 28 games, earning a summer move to Real Oviedo.
At Oviedo, Obeng quickly advanced from the reserves to the first team, registering 116 appearances and 15 goals over three and a half seasons in LaLiga Hypermotion, establishing himself as a consistent and reliable forward.
In January 2023, he joined SD Huesca, contributing 11 goals in 56 matches across a season and a half. The forward then had short spells with Casa Pia in Portugal and Wydad AC in Morocco before returning to Spain last summer with AD Ceuta.
Obeng is already integrating into Albacete’s squad, training at the Ciudad Deportiva Andrés Iniesta, with hopes of featuring in the club’s upcoming Copa del Rey fixture.
