AD Ceuta FC have completed the signing of Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng Gyabaa, adding proven experience and physical presence to their squad on the final day of the transfer window.

The 27-year-old arrives on a free after parting ways with Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Athletic Club, where he endured a testing spell but gained valuable experience, including an appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Obeng who was born in Nsapor in the Berekum West District in the Bono Region of Ghana but raised in Spain, career comes full circle as he returns to familiar ground, having previously represented Girona, Real Oviedo, SD Huesca, Calahorra and Granollers.

The net buster's reputation as a tireless worker with sharp aerial ability and an imposing style in the penalty area has long been a feature of his game.

Ceuta, who are preparing for their first campaign in Spain’s Segunda Division, are banking on Obeng’s blend of aggression, professionalism and leadership to give them an edge in their debut season. The forward was also part of Ghana’s U23 side that reached the semi-finals of the 2019 CAF U23 Cup of Nations, underlining his pedigree at international youth level.

“Obeng is a player who competes with determination, wins duels, and brings presence in the box,” the club said in their unveiling statement, stressing their belief that the striker will quickly establish a connection with the Caballa supporters.

For Obeng, the move represents a chance to reignite his career in Spain while leading Ceuta’s attack in a historic season for the Andalusian club.
