Ghanaian defender Samuel Sarfo made an instant impact on his debut for Malkiya Club, scoring a crucial late equalizer to secure a 2-2 draw against Al Hidd in the Bahrain Premier League.

Sarfo, a former Liberty Professionals captain affectionately nicknamed “Maldini”, struck with 20 minutes left on the clock, smashing home from close range to ensure his side avoided defeat in their opening fixture.

Malkiya had taken the lead midway through the first half when fellow debutant Mohamed Al Falah found the net with a fine effort from the edge of the box. However, Al Hidd equalized just before halftime through Isa Hasan, who calmly converted from the penalty spot.

The hosts then went ahead in the 62nd minute courtesy of Mauritanian striker Bekaye Wade, before Sarfo responded eight minutes later with his decisive goal.

The Ghana international joined Malkiya in July from Saudi outfit Najran SC, adding to his extensive career in the Gulf region, where he has previously featured for Saipa FC, Al Khaleej, and Al Tadamon SC.
