Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has opened up on his decision to join AFC Bournemouth, despite receiving interest from several other clubs.

Semenyo made a move to the Premier League side from Bristol City in January 2023, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal worth £10 million.

Since arriving at the Vitality Stadium, the 25-year-old forward has established himself as a key figure in the AFC Bournemouth set-up, scoring 20 goals in 81 appearances.

In an interview with Showmax, Semenyo explained that Bournemouth’s persistent pursuit of him made the difference to decline offers from other clubs.

“I had a few clubs that were quite interested. But Bournemouth had kept track from that summer through to the World Cup, through to January, so their interest was really strong,” he said.

“They were watching me, checking up on me, and that shows how good the club is. They were so interested.”

Semenyo added that once Bournemouth made their intentions clear, his mind was made up.

“Yeah, I knew that my heart was set on joining Bournemouth even though I was having interest and I just never looked back from when I signed,” he added.

Semenyo enjoyed a standout season in Bournemouth's colors, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in the just-concluded Premier League season.

His impressive form has attracted him interest from several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
