Those in charge of recruitment at the Merkur Arena have reportedly expressed concrete interest in securing the signature of the teenager of Ghanaian descent from the Dutch elite club in upcoming summer window

Austrian Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz are eyeing Dutch-born Ghanaian teenager Essien Bassey from Eredivisie heavyweights PSV Eindhoven, a report from the Dutch media has claimed.

The 19-year-old defender, currently with PSV U21, has caught the attention of Die Schwoazn and are working around the clock to secure his services for the 2026-27 football season.

According to Dutch tabloid Newspaper Eindhovens Dagbladthe Austrian outfit have made an official contact with the Philips Stadion hierarchy over the potential signing of their Academy graduate although the Farmers are not willing to part with their prized jewel this summer.

lt's understood that the Ghana-prospect teenage sensation right-back is open to making a transfer switch to his current suitors given his quest for first-team football actions as he is yet to savour such experience with his parent club in the Dutch top-flight so far.

With his existing contract set to expire on June 30, 2027, it remains to be seen whether PSV would finally give in to his transfer demand by the Graz-based club given their determination to tie him down to fresh terms over an extension ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

Bassey has so far taken in 28 appearances by assisting 5 for PSV U21 across all competitions in this current 2025/26 campaign.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Aalten -born native remains eligible to switch nationality and represent the Ghana national football team at the international level.
