Budding talented Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is set to feature in next season's Premier League with Leicester City as the club reach agreement with Sporting CP to acquire his services on permanent basis.

Leicester City have opted to activate the €17 million buy option clause stipulated in the loan agreement with Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon.

This development was confirmed by Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, who stated, “We will make money. Talented players [including Fatawu Issahaku] who don’t adapt here will move to other clubs and give us added value, it’s our system.”

Issahaku encountered difficulties at Sporting following his move from his hometown club, Steadfast FC, in April 2022. Despite securing a five-year contract with a release clause of 60 million euros, he struggled to establish himself in the first team, prompting him to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Issahaku joined Championship side Leicester City on a season-long loan in August 2023. Despite initial scepticism regarding his adaptation to the Championship’s demands, the winger has thrived.

Recently, he clinched the title of Leicester City’s Young Player of the Season, showcasing his prowess by netting six goals and providing 13 assists, a contribution instrumental in securing the Foxes’ promotion to the Premier League.

Ghanaian side Steadfast FC will be receiving €7.9 million from the transfer of the former Ghana U20 star to Leicester City.
