The English lower division outfit are currently courting the versatile Ghanaian midfielder in a bid to reinforce their midfield options with his acquisition this summer

London-born Ghanaian midfielder Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu has popped up as a transfer target for EFL championship side Stoke City FC, a report from the English press has claimed.

The 24-year-old, currently on the books of relegated League One side Fleetwood Town FC, looks set to part with his employers following numerous interest over his services this summer.

According to English portal teamTalk, the sporting director of The Potters, Jon Walters is a big admirer of the Ghanaian midfielder and is working around the clock to sign him from his current employers having both spent time together at the Highbury Stadium during his days as their sporting director.

It's believed that Fleetwood Town are resigned to losing their skipper following their relegation in the just ended season.

Having joined them from Colchester United in 2022, Sarpong would later go on to become the club's captain by making a great impact during the 2023/24 campaign thereby scoring 3 and assisting 2 in 39 games across all competitions this season.

Born and bred to Ghanaian parents in London, the versatile midfielder remains qualified to play for Ghana at the international level as he's yet to be cap-tied by the English senior national team.
