The IF Elfsborg attacking midfielder earned a place in Chris Hughton's provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be staged in Ivory Coast early next year.

Chris Hughton has named Michael Baidoo in a 55-man provisional squad list submitted to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the next month's tournament.

Baidoo is in line to make his first-ever appearance for the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after a remarkable season with IF Elfsborg in the just ended Swedish Allsvenskan.

The former Vision FC playmaker played a pivotal role in IF Elfsborg's title chase campaign but they lost the title to Malmo FF by goal margin.

Baidoo scored five goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances for IF Elfsborg across all competitions in the 2023 season's campaign.

He has been linked with a move away from IF Elfsborg after attracting interests from clubs in France, Belgium, Holland and Italy. His inclusion in Ghana's provisional squad list for the AFCON will surely aid IF Elfsborg to increase his price tag.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has already submitted a list of fifty-five (55) received from the Black Stars technical team led by Chris Hughton to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the forthcoming tournament in Ivory Coast.

Ghana have been placed in Group B of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations alongside record-title holders Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
