Young Ghanaian winger, Jahmael Ampofo, has expressed his excitement after signing his first-ever professional contract with Dutch side, AZ Alkmaar.
The 15-year-old committed to the club until mid-2027 and is eager to take his game to the next level.
Ampofo joined AZ Alkmaar last year from amateur club ASC Waterwijk in Almere and quickly made a significant impact in the AZ Under 15 team. He became a regular starter and was named Player of the Tournament at the U15 Kolping International Cup, where AZ secured third place.
Signing his first contract is a special moment for Ampofo, who is grateful for the opportunity. "I am very happy and grateful that this is happening now," the winger said. "When I came to AZ last year, the beginning was quite difficult. I was new and I had to get used to the environment and the intensity. At some point I switched the button and worked extra hard every day during training, but also at home. This helped and this day feels like a reward."
Next season, Ampofo will advance to the AZ Under 16 team, where he is expected to continue his development. With his new contract, Ampofo is now looking to take his game to the next level and become a key player for the club.
