The Ghana Football Association director of communications, Henry Asante Twum has rubbished the uncouth remarks about Thomas Teye Partey by Villarreal boss Marcelino Garcia.

Partey, 32, joined Villarreal last summer on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal and has yet to find his rhythm having struggled mainly with injuries and others.

However, earlier this month the Spanish manager made some harsh comments on the Ghanaian midfielder stating he is being affected mentally by a whole lot and isn’t really matching up to his own standard since arriving at the Estadio la Ceramica.

The message didn’t go down well with Partey’s representatives who came out to express a huge displeasure and explained into the details why things hasn’t really gone the way of their client.

Latest to touch on the issue is GFA Spokesperson Henry Asante Twum who admitted the coach was so harsh and added Thomas Partey is still a top player and a key figure to the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup

“We believe in the quality of Partey and we do not one game defines him as a player. At the FA, we do not share the coach’s view on this matter. Partey remains a top player and we have strong belief in his qualities.”

The Black Stars will regroup next month to take on two European nations; Austria and Germany in the March international window, all in pre-World Cup friendlies.
