Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey was on target for Arsenal in their resounding 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the opening fixture of match-week 8 of the 2022/23 English Premier League.

The 29 year old just made an injury return and was included in manager Mikel Arteta's starting line up but was subsequently substituted for Emerson Royal on the 73rd minute.

The mercurial midfielder broke the deadlock of the game on the 20th minute with a beautiful curler from outside the box after a nice team build up.

Harry Kane levelled the score eleven minutes after from a spot-kick before second half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka sealed the precious victory for the Gunners.

Tottenham Hotspur ended the game with ten men following Emerson Royal's second phase sent off after a nasty challenge on Gabriel Martinelli on the 62nd minute.

The win means Arsenal will continue to lead the Premier League with 21 points, four points adrift second-placed Manchester City- who takes on rivals Manchester United on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

Thomas Partey after honouring Ghana's call up just recently, missed out on friendlies against giants Brazil and Nicaragua due to a knock but is fully fit and is looking forward to have more minutes before the commencement of the World Cup, slated for November this year.
