Ghana international, Alexander Djiku, has expressed his joy and gratitude after Fenerbahçe's thrilling 4-3 win over Lugano in the UEFA Champions League playoff tie.
The win marked the team's first of the season, and Djiku took to social media to thank the fans who made it to the stadium to support them.
The game, played at a neutral ground, got off to a dramatic start with Lugano taking the lead just four minutes in through El Wafi's strike.
However, Fenerbahçe dug deep and managed to level the score through Edin Dzeko's equalizer in the 45th minute.
After recess, Dzeko scored two more goals to propel Fenerbahçe to a 4-3 victory, with Ferdi Kadioglu netting the fourth goal for the Turkish side.
Lugano's Uran Bislimi and Milton Valenzuela scored the other two consolation goals. Djiku played the entire duration of the game and was instrumental in helping his team secure the win.
"First win of the season! A big thank you to the many supporters who made the trip," Djiku wrote on social media, expressing his gratitude to the fans who traveled to watch the game.
