The experienced widesman of Ghanaian descent has sealed his move to the American second division side until the end of the upcoming football campaign


US-born Ghanaian winger Joe Gyau has joined USL Championship side Las Vegas Lights FC, the club have confirmed.

 The 31-year-old former Borussia Dortmund ll man is joining the Las Vegas-based club on a free transfer after parting ways with demoted Swedish Allsvanskan side Degerfors IF last term.

A statement confirming the signing of Gyau together with his other two recruited team-mates read: "Las Vegas Lights FC announced today the club had signed former United States Men’s National Team player Joe Gyau, Dominican Republic international Riki Alba, and goalkeeper Austin Wormell ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transactions are pending league and federation approval."

The former TSG 1899 Hoffenheim winger is not new to the American competitions as he has had stint with Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati during the 2019/20 season.

Sporting director Gianleonardo Neglia has hailed the qualities of the experienced flanksman as he is confident he will help their cause ahead of the 2024 football season.

" Joe has shown over his past two seasons in Sweden’s top-flight what he has to offer and we’re delighted to bring him aboard. “His experience and on-field quality will be a valuable asset for our squad throughout the upcoming campaign.”

He has already represented the United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) at the international level.
