Ghanaian forward Kwadwo Opoku Mahala played a pivotal role for CF Montreal in their recent Major League Soccer (MLS) showdown against FC Cincinnati, where he made a crucial contribution by finding the back of the net.
In this fixture, the 22-year-old earned a starting position and showcased his skills for 78 minutes, playing an essential part in securing a 1-1 draw for his team at home on Wednesday.
The first half was fiercely competitive, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but ultimately failing to capitalize.
However, the match's dynamics shifted in the second half when Kwadwo Opoku Mahala broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, benefiting from an assist by Lassi Lappalainen. This goal put Montreal in a favorable position to secure a victory.
Nevertheless, in stoppage time, Argentine international Luciano Acosta managed to equalize for FC Cincinnati, rescuing a valuable point for his team.
Opoku has been in remarkable form this season, amassing three goals in just seven appearances for Montreal in the MLS. Before his transfer to Montreal, he scored twice in 19 games while playing for Los Angeles FC.
