Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Addai says it’s still possible for his club Qarabag FK to advance into the round 16 despite their heavy loss in the first leg against Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League playoffs, second leg.

The 24-year-old made a late cameo in the first leg, playing only five minutes in their embarrassing 1-6 home loss to the Magpies and the Azerbaijani champions now need at least five goals at St James’ Park to overturn the deficit into tonight’s second leg encounter.

Speaking in an interview with Flashscore, Addai, who is the first Ghanaian to score in the Champions League this season, says they lost to a very strong side hugely making it seem it’s over but he is still very confident they can still sail through

The mercurial winger admitted that the first leg showed the physical strength of Newcastle, describing their level as completely different, but believes the second leg offers another opportunity to prove themselves.

“There is nothing impossible. Football is a game and anything can happen. I won’t say it is the end. You never know till the game is over. We will try our best to come back.

“In the first leg, we could see that it was another level against Newcastle. They were very strong and big, but we will see what happens in the second leg.”

Emmanuel Addai will definitely play a part but he is very unlikely not to start in the second leg is slated for 20:00GMT (8:00pm) at the St James’ Park this evening.
