Ghanaian international, Kudus Mohammed was finally handed his first Premier League start this weekend but suffered a very painful 0-1 loss to Everton at the London Olympic Stadium.
The 23-year-old joined the Hammers prior to the start of the season and has already made his debut but was yet to have his first league start.
Kudus was finally handed a starting berth against the Toffees in a tie which was really a difficult one- and was their first home loss of the season.
Reacting to the defeat, the mercurial playmaker admitted their opponents were very compact and tough in the game but further indicated they will put this behind and focus on their subsequent matches.
“It was very disappointing,” the Ghanaian told West Ham TV. “We want to win every game, but it’s done now and we need to focus on the next game."
“From the start of the game, we knew we were playing against a very compact team. We knew we would have to do more to create a lot of chances, but we didn’t manage to do that. If you don’t score then you need to not concede, but we didn’t do that today. We need to learn from that and focus on our next game.”
Kudus Mohammed has now made seven Premier League appearances with a goal to his belt and will hope for another starting place when they host Arsenal this midweek in round 16 of the EFL Cup.
