Wait finally over as the 2022/23 Ashanti Regional Division Two Champion commence on Friday, December 9, 2022 with yet another football excitement and surprises about to be witnessed across the various centers.
It was all thrilling and fascinating last season with high level of performances from majority of the clubs of which Asekem FC ultimately emerged as the overall champions.
They conquered the region's third tier football after a stellar campaign in the Promotional tournament of which they defeated Pro Players Academy via penalty shootouts in the final.
In their debut season in the first division, which is currently on hold due to the World Cup, the Beposo Warriors have already set off a brighter start with just a defeat after eight matches, three wins and four draws, leaving them 5th on the zone II log with 13 points.
The clubs have lost the service of some key players, and definitely will also etch on the transfer market to make some additions to strengthen their squad in order to battle for the big prize this time around.
Definitely the touted-favourites for this new campaign will be last year Middle League runners up- Pro Players Academy, Benab FC, Ebony FC, Kumawuman United FC and others who all managed to conquer their various zones in the first phase.
However, the newly added clubs are also likely to send a very strong statements to those in the league already and will hope to establish themselves as a mainstay and subsequently defy all odds to make it into the country's second tier and probably the topflight.
Possession-based PAC Academy and Sasaamo Panin FC will kickoff the 2022/23 Division Two league- with both teams having their sights on nothing but the precious three points at stake.
Afterwards, high-flying Benab FC will also look to conquer their zone for the third successive year, having done that in the previous two, but failed to manifest that energy in the Promotional League.
They will do battle in the second game of the season when they take on newbies, Namoro FC in what will be a tricky tie but their quest to always starting off on an explosive note will be the substantive target.
The two matches will all be held at the Baba Yara Stadium, at 1:00pm and 3:00pm respectively.
