The 2022/23 Ghana Division One league commenced over the weekend with some expected and surprising outcomes produced from all the three zones.

In the 2021/22 campaign, unusually, four teams cruised from the second-tier into the topflight and there comes another platform for three clubs to compete for the Premier spots at stake this time.

In Zone I, Bofoakwa Tano who were really in the qualification race last season, started on a good note with a narrow 1-0 home win over Baffour Soccer Academy- who are playing their second season in the first division.
 
Steadfast FC ain't only adding up to numbers this time after marmalizing Wa Suntaa FC by an emphatic 3-0 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium last Saturday.
 
BA United were held by Nkoranza Warriors at home whiles astonishingly, Berekum Arsenal also fell to a 1-2 home loss to Mighty Royals at the Golden City Park.
 
Zone II saw Newly-promoted side Kenpong Academy held Soccer Interllectuals at home whiles WAFA picked up a point at Future Stars.
 
Asekem FC drew two all with Pacific Heroes in their first game in the second-tier with Nations FC also humbling Swedru All Blacks by 3-1 at Abrankese. 
 
Just-dropped topflight side, Elmina Sharks defeated Nzema Kotoko by 2-1 and Sefwi All Stars  surprisingly humbled Asokwa Deportivo by 3-0.
 
Liberty Professionals in Zone III recorded a precious 1-2 away triumph at Golden Kicks to set off a brighter start to the new season. 
 
And the surprising outcome for the first round of matches saw last season runner up Tema Youth losing narrowly at home to newbies, Na God FC.
