The qualifying round of the 2023/24 Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools and Colleges Boys soccer championship has been completed and all is set for the main competition early next year.
The last edition ended four months ago and it was Simms SHS who emerged victorious on their second attempts after beating grand maters Osei Kyeretwie SHS 4-3 via penalty shootouts in the final under the tutelage of coach Sandra Boakye.
Having won the last edition, the 'Adefo)' outfit also managed to secure qualification to the next edition after finishing as winners of Group 17 with a total dominance, ahead of Tweapease SHS, Wesley High SHS and Bompata Presby SHS.
Also, first runners-up OKESS secured qualification too alongside T.I AMASS, Kumasi, KASS, Prempeh College, Adu Gyamfi SHS and Opoku Ware School, Islamic SHS, and will all be hoping to dethrow the champions for the ultimate this time around.
However, there were four surprise packages after the qualifying series, with schools like Apagya SHS, Afigyaman SHS, Wiafe Akenten SHS and Fast Track SHS, all causing a huge shock by booking spots to the round of 32.
The competition is slated for 9th January, 2024, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
