Black Stars defender, Alexander Djiku started in the heart of defence last Thursday alongside Daniel Amartey in Ghana's important win over Angola to maintain top spot

The Black Stars pounced on Antoine Semenyo's 90+6 minute lone goal to edge the Palanca Negras by 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in match-day three of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The victory means the four time champions have now opened a three points lead at the top of Group E and have enhanced their qualification chances.
 
The strong guardsman after the win took to Twitter to express delight and also thanked Ghanaians especially the Kumasi fans for rallying behind the club massively and believes is the main reason they won the game.
 
He wrote; "Strong team spirit. 3 pts. Focus on the next one. We thanks all Ghanaians for the support and love.”
 
Alexander Djiku had a decent game and was really hard on the attack of the Angolans but picked up an Injury on the 87th minute and was subsequently succeeded by Spanish-based Joseph Aidoo. The extent of his injury is yet to be determined.
 
Ghana will face Angola in the return encounter in Luanda on Monday, March 27, 2023.
