Eight players opened Black Stars training sessions on Monday evening in Accra for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double-header against Angola on Thursday.

Newly-appointed Ghana coach Chris Hughton, who was unveiled in Kumasi earlier today, flown back to the capital to supervise the training session at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to Joy Sports, the players who were present at the training session were Andre Ayew, Joojo Wollacott, Inaki Williams, Daniel Amartey, Joseph Aidoo, Antoine Semenyo, Joseph Paintsil, and new boy Ransford-Yeboah.
 
The rest of the players are expected to arrive on Monday night to join the team fly to Kumasi for Tuesday’s training session at the Baba Yara stadium.
 
Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Joojo Wollacott, who suffered an injury before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, had a session with goalkeepers’ trainer Richard Kingston, while the rest of the group was asked to stretch their muscles and did a bit of kick-about with the ball.
 
Chris Hughton had a team talk with the boys, and also had a tete â tete with Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who are with the Black Meteors.
 
Hughton's first game in charge will be a back-to-back qualifier against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, with Ghana hosting the Palancas Negras at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23 and travelling to Luanda for the reverse leg fixture four days later.
