Ghana's head coach, Chris Hughton, emphasized the Black Stars' understanding of the challenge ahead against Mozambique in their decisive 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group match.

Expressing the gravity of the upcoming encounter, the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager underscored the necessity for both physical and mental preparedness from his team to overcome Mozambique.

In his own words, Hughton conveyed, "The players know what it will take to get a result. There are no easy games in this tournament. We have to be physically and mentally prepared for this."

Recalling Ghana's earlier performances in the tournament, the team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde in their opening match, marked by a crucial mistake from Mohammed Salisu leading to a stoppage-time goal.

The second game against Egypt witnessed Ghana squandering a lead due to defensive errors, resulting in a 2-2 draw despite Mohammed Kudus's impressive goals.

As it stands, the Black Stars find themselves in a precarious position, sitting third in Group B with only one point from two games. The imperative now is to secure a victory against Mozambique to advance to the round of 16.

The final group clash is scheduled to take place at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe on Monday night, adding an extra layer of pressure to Ghana's quest for redemption after the initial setbacks in the tournament.
