Asante Kotoko have beating rivals Hearts of Oak to lift their ninth President Cup and coach Karim has shared excitement saying that was their only target heading into the game.

The Porcupine Warriors came from behind to beat the ‘Phobians’ by 2-1 in what was a very exciting game at the Ohene Gyan Stadium over the weekend.

Hearts of Oak struck first courtesy Hamza Issah who pounced on a goalkeeper Mohammed Camara’s clanger to open the scoring account to hand them the lead at half-time.

However, Konadu Yiadom connected into his own net from Peter Acquah Amish’s cross in the early stages of the second half coupled with another from Kwame in the space of just a minute to win the game.

In a post-match interview, the experienced gaffer expressed elation towards the win and added they fully focused on nothing but lifting their ninth President trophy.

He further indicated their plans and preparations towards next season especially in the CAF Confederations Cup

“The plan is to come to win. I saw that we should go for the second cup, we wanted the league but we couldn’t and this my second winning

“Our second half was far better than the second half. We’re all happy, the supporters are also happy. I introduced some few players, we’re showing to South Africa next and will focus on our Africa campaign next.

“I’m happy with the win. Our main focus is to win, we’re prepared to win and by God’s grace, they won.”

Asante Kotoko will now head to South Africa to face Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup later this month
