Former Black Stars captain John Mensah has backed Ghana to secure qualification if the team sustains its recent momentum.

The Black Stars have won their last two matches without conceding, recording back-to-back clean sheets — a run that has lifted morale and restored confidence in the squad’s potential.

Assessing the team’s performances, the ex-defender praised the growing chemistry and understanding among the players, stressing that consistency will be decisive.

“If they play like the way they played the last two games, I believe they can qualify. They are playing well now and they know each other very well. I believe if they keep on like that, they can qualify,” Mensah told reporters.

His comments come at a crucial time, as the Black Stars prepare for back-to-back World Cup qualifiers in September. Ghana will travel to face Chad on Matchday 7 before hosting Mali on Matchday 8 between September 1 and 9, 2025.

With renewed spirit in the squad and encouragement from former leaders like Mensah, hopes are high that Ghana can maintain its winning run and edge closer to qualification.
