US-based attacker Joseph Paintsil is set for a return to the Black Stars ahead of the first international window of the new season after almost a year abeyance.

One might very surprised as to why the 27-year-old has gone out of the senior national team for that long despite his consistent impressive displays but most were due to injuries as his last call-up was in September last year against Angola in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Paintsil played a pivotal role in helping LA Galaxy win the Major League Soccer title last season with a solid 22-goal involvements in the league (14 goals, 8 assists)

Despite a sloppy start in the new campaign, he’s found his rhythm and has hit the grounds running already with six goals and an assist so far including a beauty of goal against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.

His top-notch performances has earned him another invite as he is set to be included in coach Otto Addo’s squad for the next round of matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and has already stated in previous interviews that his dream is to play at the Mundial.

The Black Stars will play as guests to Chad on September 4, and will then host Mali next in four days time in Accra in match-day 7 and 8 respectively.
